50th Reunion Advisory Committee, 2008

The Committee mission is to provide guidance and oversight for the annual reunion. Under the leadership of the Office of Reunions & Reunion Giving (R&RG) the committee will ensure the reunion meets its intended goals:

1. Engage alumni
2. Create top-of-mind awarenes for U-M
3. Build a tradition of giving

Committee Structure

  • Time commitment: 3-5 hours monthly, includes meetings
  • Meeting: five times during reunion year via teleconference
  • Schedule set by the Office of R&RG
  • Members: 20-25 alumni from reunion classes

Committee Responsibilities

  • Identify, engage and encourage classmates to attend reunion weekend activities
  • Promote attendance through personal networks and other circles of influence
  • Work with staff to identify and engage class leaders
  • Lend name to reunion marketing and communication efforts
  • Report alumni address/email changes to R&RG
  • Assist calling reunion attendees/alumni (e.g., attendance, thank you, stewardship)
  • Discuss/share feedback with R&RG on marketing schedules, materials, program and events, and during planning meetings/conference calls
  • Share post-event evaluation feedback
  • Adhere to U-M’s privacy policy and use of data guidelines

Chair responsibilities

  • Lead planning meetings
  • Communicate plans to reunion sub-committees
  • Manage committee members to ensure tasks are completed
  • Steward attendees and coordinate committee thank you calls
  • Address class at an appropriate event during Reunion weekend

Reunion Giving Sub-Committee

  • Training modules prepare members to steward current and lapsed donors via email, phone, or other means during their volunteer commitment
  • Success will be measured in two ways:
    • Achieve 100% participation of the committee in giving any size gift to U-M
    • Increase class participation from the previous year during the reunion campaign
